Granths (Sanskrit for “knots”) — are the special chakras through which kundalini arises. There are three granths: in the bottom of a spine (muladhara-chakra), in the area of a heart (anahata-chakra) and in the area between eyebrows (ajnya-chakra). They are also called “the knot of Brahma”, “the knot of Vishnu” and “the knot of Shiva” accordingly.
