Samsara (Sanskrit for “to flow on”) — in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism is a sequence of reincarnations, cycle of births and deaths, that depends on the laws of karma. A human being is held in chains of samsara because of his ignorance and inability to comprehend his own nature. Liberation from samsara is called moksha. There are different ways of achieving moksha (various types of yoga, for example).
