Tantrism (or Tantra) (Sanskrit for “warp”) — is a heterodox, esoteric school of Hinduism that appeared in the first centuries CE. The sacred texts are the Tantras. According to Tantra doctrine, there are two natures in the Universe: male (Shiva) and female (Shakti). Only in alliance with Shakti can Shiva create. Right-handed Tantra followers believe that active male nature is the principle one, while the Left-handed Tantra devotees claim that wise female nature is more important.
